A trigger is a short ritual you perform before a habit. If you wanted to wake up earlier this might mean the practicing of jumping out of bed as soon as you hear the sound of your alarm.
A possible trigger prior to speech drills could be having a glass of water or juice just moments before starting your drills. Also a song could be played as a part of the warm up sequence. A trigger helps condition a new pattern more consistently.
